Matthew Yde (PhD 11) Commissioned by Aux Dog Theatre of Nob Hill

Matt Yde (PhD 2011) received a commission from the Aux Dog Theatre of Nob Hill in Albuquerque to adapt George Bernard Shaw’s Mrs. Warren’s Profession.  Yde, a specialist on Shaw--the subject of his dissertation--set the new version of the play in the present day on the east coast of the United States with the title of Mrs. Warren’s Profession 2.0  (runs Feb. 2-25, 2018). Yde'sdissertation, “The Utopian Imagination of George Bernard Shaw: Totalitarianism and the Seduction of the Superman”, was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2013 and had a reprint in 2016. The book, Bernard Shaw and Totalitarianism: Longing for Utopia, received numerous accolades in theatre journals and publications.
