Alumna Chelsea Phillips Publishes on Folger Research

Chelsea Phillips (PhD '15) published an essay--“Acccounting for Relationships: the Drury Lane Financial Records”--in The Collation: Research and Exploration at the Folger in March 2019 in Washington, D.C. Her essay examines the numerous financial records of 18th and 19th century London theatres, particularly Drury Lane. She is working with these documents in order to understand more fully the payments to actresses during their pregnancies and childbirth. Phillips is a recipient of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies-Folger Institute Short Term Fellowship for 2018-2019. She is an assistant professor in Villanova University’s Department of Theatre.
