Have you worked on starting dialogues with groups where the same two or three voices stage the same battles, while everyone else sits in silence? How do we hear from everyone in the room in ways that encourage people to build on each other’s contributions? This scenario may be familiar to folks who want to engage groups in dialogue or facilitate collaborative action. How can we set up space for more voices to be heard and for nuanced conversations that complicate issues?
In this free, two-hour workshop, we will share communication tactics and conflict resolution strategies which invite folks to listen and share across difference, creating brave spaces for open communication. We will practice activities of varying risk levels—from silent writing as dialogue to sharing points of view by placing one’s self on a continuum. If you attend and find it beneficial, we can discuss bringing the workshop to your organization or team.
Please note: This is not a course in conflict mediation. Our focus is on laying the groundwork for getting everyone in a group to speak, be heard, listen to and build on others’ contributions.
After participating, you will be eligible for participating in our small grants program to support and sustain your own creative leadership.
