Spotlight on Students: Abigail Johnson

Abigail Johnson

By BA Journalism Major Ray’Anthony Bruster

Junior Theatre Major and Music Minor Abigail Johnson has been intrigued with theatre since high school. She attended Turpin High School located in Cincinnati, Ohio where she was a cheerleader. Johnson is the President of Alpha Psi Omega (APO) a national theatre honor society with a chapter in the Department of Theatre. Also, she is a part of the Art Scholars Program. Johnson was skeptical about theatre in the beginning of her college career, but took a chance.

“‘The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty.’ This is my favorite quote by Eleanor Roosevelt because sometimes people are nervous to do what makes them happy,” said Johnson.

Johnson, dedicated to the theatre department, enjoys writing. She is currently learning to write plays. Johnson is in the department's production of Macbeth, playing Ross, Donalbain, Angus and other various parts. The play opens Thursday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m.
