Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures and Professor of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts (by courtesy) Yana Hashamova has been granted a prestigious award by The American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages. This year, Hashamova was selected as the winner of the Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession.

Hashamova is recognized for the many years she has served in leadership roles here at Ohio State including director of the Center for Slavic and East European Studies and chair of the Department of Slavic and East European Langauages and Cultures. She has led collaborations around the country and internationally. Hashamova has also edited The Slavic and East European Journal since 2017 where she has broadened its coverage to include film and culture.
