Professor Mary Tarantino, resident lighting designer and director of the Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Theatre Research Institute, will retire from the university at the end of August 2019. She plans to spend more time outside of dark theatres, and climbing some, but not every mountain.

Tarantino writes, "It has beem my privilege to work with such talented colleagues and engaged students. This has been an amazing journey of teaching, learning, research, and making shows that have celebrated, questioned, and communicated shared ideas."

She has been an invaluable member of the department for 28 years. Her spirit and commitment to students will be deeply missed.
