Bonnie Milligan (BA, theatre '06) won the 2023 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in Kimberly Akimbo. Kimberly Akimbo features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire, music by Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori, choreography by Danny Mefford, and direction by Jessica Stone.

Based on Lindsay-Abaire's comedy of the same name, the show tells the story of a teenage girl suffering from a disease that causes her to age rapidly, making her look as though she's a much, much older woman. Kimberly maintains cheerful optimism as she navigates troubles at home, her first crush, and possible felony charges.

Kimberly Akimbo won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Leading Actress in a Musical, and Best Featured Actress in a Musical. This is Milligan's first Tony nomination and first win. She also won the Lucille Lortel Award and was nominated for a Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League award for her performance of Aunt Debra in Kimberly Akimbo.
