Under This Midwest Sky is a screening of 9 short documentaries produced in Rasel Ahmed's Advanced Nonfiction Production class. These films were made in close collaboration with communities across Columbus and highlight the relationships and everyday experiences that shape the city.
From a granddaughter searching for her grandfather's lost painting, to an Irish chef rediscovering passion in a shifting culinary landscape, to a woman trying to hold onto her family farm and the life built around it, these films explore the many ways people create meaning in their lives across Columbus. Attendees will also meet a marathon runner navigating an unexpected injury, a Pakistani immigrant family blending cultural heritage into daily life, Latinx artists honoring grief through performance, a feminist film club, and young people living with Type 1 diabetes and alopecia as they navigate care and community.
