Stage Automation: Lunch & Learn

November 10, 2014
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Thurber Theatre

Join us for a casual but informative Lunch & Learn event about stage automation technology. Technical Directors Chris Zinkon and Chad Mahan will discuss and demonstrate the automation hardware and software used for Ohio State's production of City of Angels.

A musical homage to 1940's film noir, City of Angles uses a wide variety of automation technology, including winches and pistons, to move, lift and lower scenery from all corners of the stage. Most of the heavy-duty winches were built right here in our scenic studios. At the heart of the action is an advanced digital show control system run by a single operator, high above the action.

Enjoy a rare, up-close look at the technology behind some of the biggest shows on Broadway, right on our stage.
