An homage to 1940's film noir, the Tony award-winning jazz musical City of Angels weaves together the stories of Stine, a writer struggling to adapt his detective novel as a screenplay, and Stone, his protagonist, a hard-boiled private eye. As Stine is forced to compromise his artistic vision for the sake of Hollywood success, Stone gets steamed at his author’s lack of artistic integrity. The line between reality and fiction blurs as the creator comes face to face with his creation, and ultimately, himself.
