For the past three years, Associate Professor Jen Schlueter has led a group of undergraduate and graduate students to Louisville, KY for the Actor’s Theatre of Louisville’s College Days. College Days is a three-day weekend dedicated to providing college students with opportunities to learn, network, and watch new plays; this event is part of Actor’s Theatre’s annual HUMANA festival. This new-found tradition has offered Ohio State students numerous opportunities to see new plays by both seasoned and novice playwrights. Students not only get a chance to see five new plays throughout the weekend, but they are able to attend workshops led by Actor’s Theatre of Louisville’s staff, post-show talk-backs, and networking events.
Third year theatre and biology double-major Kelsey Frustere attended the weekend for the first time and stated, “It was one of the most fulfilling experiences I've had as a theatre major. Being able to see so many shows and learn so many things about the business of theatre was an amazing opportunity I never thought I would have.”
Since the inaugural trip, we have had a student get accepted into the internship/apprenticeship program offered at Actor’s Theatre of Louisville. It is an amazing opportunity that gives students the chance to find opportunities post-graduation.
