Katie Martin is the Soundstage Studio Manager for the department, overseeing the daily operations of the Sound Stage and media production labs. She leads a staff team that includes the Recording Studio Engineer and Equipment Coordinator.

Martin earned her Master of Fine Arts in Film/Video from the California Institute of the Arts. She is also a graduate of the Jesup Scott Honors College and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video at the University of Toledo.

A lifelong learner, Martin enjoys honing her skills in various professional film workshops and seminars as well as attending a variety of gear shows. Some highlights of her training include Aputure Lighting Certification, as well as a custom AbelCine workshop for operating the Freefly Movi Pro.

Prior to joining Ohio State , Martin was the Equipment Supervisor at Cleveland State University’s School of Film & Media Arts. Martin established their Equipment Room operations from the ground up, and helped shape many areas of the school. Her work included overseeing $1.5 million dollar equipment assets, as well as serving as their program’s WebCheckout administrator and Project Greenlight member.  While at CSU, she supervised and mentored numerous FMA students and participated in a variety of committees and programs: On-Campus Internship Program, FMA Scholarship, Student Engagement, and ETF (Equipment, Technology, and Facilities).

As a first-generation student, Martin enjoys opportunities to give back and support students on their academic journey. She looks forward to contributing her professional and academic experience to the department and Ohio State.
